Anyone giving Vargas A shot?

Tall tough kid, at + 550, I would put a couple of Grants on it.

Should be a good scrap, I don't feel like paying but I am in need of a good fight to watch.

It's been awhile.

Andre Ward has a secret weapon

Well I guess it's not a secret if many people know, but he made a very smart move.

He hired Mackie Shilstone. That man gets boxers in top condition.

He helped Roy pack on the lbs to defeat Ruiz.

He helped Spinks move up.

He helped BHop move up against Tarver.

I still think Krusher gets the win but Shilstone just made it closer in my book.

AIBA (amateur boxing's international governing body) reeks with corruption says the NY Times

In an article that ran in the New York Times on Sunday, Oct. 30, investigative reporters Ken Belson and Ognian Georgiev shined a harsh light on AIBA. According to the authors, the PricewaterhouseCoopers accounting firm, under orders from Thomas Bach, the president of the International Olympic Committee, looked into the financial affairs of AIBA and discovered potential criminality.

The firm's investigation focused on a $10 million loan to AIBA in 2010 from a company in Azerbaijan. The money was to help pay for a new semiprofessional boxing league in North America. The loan was never repaid and "investigators could not account for more than $4.5 million of the money that was spent."

The private company that lent AIBA the money has been identified as Benkons MMC. There are no sports related businesses in the company's portfolio. The New York Times authors note that since the loan was made there has been an uptick in the fortunes of Azerbaijani amateur boxers.

Question for readers: If you had a chance to invest in a semiprofessional boxing league in North America, do you think this would be a wise investment?

It's Official: Anthony Joshua vs. Eric Molina on Dec. 10

It's official. Anthony Joshua's second title defense will come against Eric Molina on Dec. 10 in Manchester, England.

The 34-year-old Molina (25-3, 19 KOs) hails from Weslaco, Texas, in the southern tip of the Lone Star State near the Mexican border. He was knocked out in the opening round in his pro debut against a fellow novice and would be stopped twice more, by Chris Arreola (KO 1) and Deontay Wilder (KO 9). He had several good moments vs. Wilder, tagging him on several occasions with overhand rights, but was on the deck four times before the fight was waved off. The bout, for lack of a better term, was inelegant.

Molina has won two straight since that setback, stopping Rodricka Ray, who was 5-8-1 going in, and then going to Poland where he came from behind to forge a 10th-round stoppage over Polish veteran Tomasz Adamack who at age 39 had seen better days.
