It's official. Anthony Joshua's second title defense will come against Eric Molina on Dec. 10 in Manchester, England.
The 34-year-old Molina (25-3, 19 KOs) hails from Weslaco, Texas, in the southern tip of the Lone Star State near the Mexican border. He was knocked out in the opening round in his pro debut against a fellow novice and would be stopped twice more, by Chris Arreola (KO 1) and Deontay Wilder (KO 9). He had several good moments vs. Wilder, tagging him on several occasions with overhand rights, but was on the deck four times before the fight was waved off. The bout, for lack of a better term, was inelegant.
Molina has won two straight since that setback, stopping Rodricka Ray, who was 5-8-1 going in, and then going to Poland where he came from behind to forge a 10th-round stoppage over Polish veteran Tomasz Adamack who at age 39 had seen better days.
