From Borat to Golovkin, we're all getting to better understand the "glorious nation" of Kazakhstan. When British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen punk'd the world in 2006 with his roving racist reporter character Borat Sagdiyev, we had no idea what the country was really all about and we LOL'd as Sacha lampooned Kazakhstan through Borat. But the people of Kazakhstan were not laughing. They were deeply offended and hurt by the characterization of them as backwards, anti-semitic idiots. As if by design then, along came the dignified Gennady "Triple G" Golovkin to reestablish the Kazakhi people's place on the map in a way that is rooted in reality. After years of being ridiculed, Kazakhstan can now claim the best boxer on the planet and one of the fastest rising sports stars in the world.
