Nick Blackwell emerged from his medically induced coma on Saturday at St. Mary's hospital in London. Yesterday (April 3) he was able to speak with family and friends.
Blackwell collapsed after his brutal bout with Chris Eubank Jr., which was stopped in the 10th round on the advice of the ringside physician because of a severely swollen left eye. He collapsed after the stoppage and left the ring on a stretcher. He had bleeding on the brain, but not to the extent that it required an operation. Over three million people tuned in to watch the fight on a free TV channel.
It is not known when Blackwell will be discharged, but all signs are positive.
