Poignancy at T-Mobile

When Canelo went to his knees to check out the condition of Amir Khan, it was not the first time he had done this. When he almost killed James Kirkland with the same crushing right, he also showed genuine concern for his fellow-man. Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is a special kind of person.

But the real poignancy for me occurred when Referee Russell Mora looked at Glen Tapia’s corner and tapped his heart to acknowledge their decision to stop the slaughter being admonished by David Lemieux.

These kinds of things are often bypassed by the scribes but they send chills down my spine. They reflect another dimension to boxing—one that is positive.
