The WBA 154-pound title fight between Demetrius Andrade and Jack Culcay has been cancelled

According to TSS correspondent Phil Woolever, who writes from Germany, the fight between Demetrius Andrade and Jack Culcay scheduled for Nov 5 in Potsdam, Germany, has been cancelled. The match has been removed from the list of upcoming events at the Sauerland Promotions web site. The reason for the cancellation is uncertain, but one suspects that Andrade was miffed that he would receive only 25 percent of the purse as Culcay, who held the "interim" WBA 154-pound title, was judged to be the defending champion.

The undefeated Andrade, from Providence, Rhode Island, was hoping that a win over Culcay would boost him into a mega-fight with Canelo Alvarez, an unlikely scenario as Canelo is unlikely to pick such a dangerous opponent for his next test.
