Tyson Fury Voluntarily Reliquishes his Heavyweight Belts

On Wednesday, Oct. 12, Tyson Fury announced that he was voluntarily surrendering his heavyweight belts to seek professional treatment for his emotional problems.

In a formal statement, Fury said "I feel it is only fair and right and for the good of boxing to keep the titles active."

His manager, Mick Hennessy said that Fury and everyone on his team was "heartbroken."

Fury is the lineal champion and holds the WBA and WBO belts.

However, the WBA has lifted its sanction against Lucas Browne for taking a banned substance and ordered him to fight ancient Fres Oquendo for the WBA title within 60 days.

Deontay Wilder, the WBC champion, is sidelined with a broken hand.

The IBF champion is Anthony Joshua.

Confusing, isn't it?
